Why are people looking for a Janitor AI alternative?

Mostly for four reasons: the free model struggles at busy times, better models mean a proxy and a paid key, the free context is short, and there are no pictures or voice. Here they are, dated.

Slow or failed replies at busy times. Janitor's changelog reported "site instability" on September 11, 2026 and "janitorLLM is having trouble right now" on November 1, with many replies failing or timing out. A third party status monitor logged 10 incidents from October 19 to November 3, two of them about 9 hours 48 minutes long, none acknowledged on Janitor's status page.
A proxy and a key for better models. Other models need a proxy configuration and an API key from a provider who bills you per token. OpenRouter's free models, a common choice, stop at 50 requests a day until you buy at least 10 credits. Janitor's own Router (July 30, 2026) skips the key but needs Janitor+ and bills per token from a wallet.
About 9k tokens of context on the free model, shared by the bot's definition, your Chat Memory note and recent messages, says Janitor's help center. Janitor+ gives 5x more for $12.99 a month.
No pictures or voice. When Janitor+ launched on June 24, 2026, Janitor listed "other modalities (think voice and image)" as plans. Its changelog through November 1 shows neither.
Age checks in three countries. Since April 24, 2026 in Australia and Brazil, and June 15 in the UK, Janitor asks for a one time check by video selfie, ID scan or an existing age key.

Do I need a proxy or API key on Nodera?

No. Every chat runs on Nodera's own models and is paid from the free daily credits, so there is nothing to configure, no key to guard and no provider bill.

The trade off is real: you cannot bring your own model, key or proxy, or choose which model replies. If choosing the model is the point, Janitor or Chub AI suits you better.

Every account gets 500 credits a day, refilled on their own, with no card and no paid plan during the beta. A message costs 5, so that is about 100 messages if you only chat, and unused credits expire after 24 hours. That daily allowance is the biggest honest difference: Janitor's free model has no daily cap at all.

Will characters remember me next time?

Yes, within limits. A Nodera character reads up to the last 16 messages word for word and saves the moments that matter as memories it recalls later, from one day to the next and on any device.

Janitor's Chat Memory is a note attached to one chat, filled by its summarize button or by you, inside the same 9k token budget. Nodera does not send a bigger context than that. The difference is that you write no recaps: memories are saved for you as you talk. Each chat keeps its own memory, so a new chat with the same character starts fresh. It will not recall every line of a long story, and your relationship grows over 10 levels that unlock new pictures.

Can I get pictures and hear replies?

Yes, from the same free credits, with no subscription.

Pictures of your chat. Turn a moment into a picture in one of 73 art styles for 5 credits, then animate it into a 5 second clip for 25.
Chat voice. Tap any reply to hear it read aloud in one of 22 voices.
Audio stories. A 10 minute story written around what you pick and read aloud in a voice you choose, for 500 credits.
Rooms. Two characters in one chat, who talk to you and to each other.

What Nodera does not have: voice calls, or an App Store or Google Play app. It works in your phone's browser, and you can add it to your home screen.

How do I move a bot I made on Janitor?

Copy its fields and rebuild it. Nodera cannot read Janitor bots or chats today. A "bring your character" importer is being built; until then, recreating a bot you wrote takes a few minutes.

Often, if you live in text roleplay and like control over the model. Here is the honest split.

Stay with Janitor AI if

You want to plug in your own model, key or proxy, or pick models from Router.
You chat for hours and do not want a daily cap.
You want millions of community bots and creator scripts.
You want an app from the App Store or Google Play.

Try Nodera if

You want no key, no proxy and nothing to set up.
You want characters who remember you from one day to the next without writing recaps.
You want pictures, animation, voice replies and audio stories in one place.
You are fine with about 100 messages a day in return.

Nodera's limits, plainly: about 100 messages a day, which you will feel if you are used to Janitor's no cap. You cannot bring your own model, key or proxy. It is a beta, so expect the occasional slow reply, and it is web only, with no voice calls. Age is confirmed at a gate where you state you are 18 or older, and that may change as age check laws spread.

Yes, for adults. Once you confirm you are 18 or older, romance and mature roleplay with adult characters marked 18+ are allowed, within our safety rules. The 18+ content setting comes on when you confirm, and you can turn it off in Settings. Never allowed, for anyone: sexual content involving minors or characters who look or act like minors, sexual violence or sex without consent, characters or pictures of real people without their consent, sexual content with animals, and anything that encourages self harm.

Is Nodera ever slow or down?

Yes, sometimes. It is a beta, and at busy times replies can be slow or fail and need a retry. We would rather say that plainly than promise perfect uptime.
