Is Nodera safe and private? What we store, and what we never do

Who sees my chats?

Only you see your one to one chats. Other people cannot open them, and publishing a character makes its profile public, never your conversations with it.

Your chats are stored on our servers so they sync between your phone and your computer. You can turn that sync off for chat history in Settings, under Privacy & Sync. Rooms work differently: they are group chats, so everyone in a room sees its messages and its pictures.

The Nodera team does not read your chats, and our admin tools have no screen for them. The one exception is a blocked request. When a safety check stops a message or a picture request, up to 280 characters of it are saved so the team can review the block.

Do you sell my data or show ads?

No. Nodera does not sell your personal information, shows no ads and uses no third party advertising cookies. If you sign in with Google, that data is used only to create and secure your account, never for advertising.

Nodera is free during the beta and has no paid plan today: every account gets 500 credits a day, about 100 messages, with no card. We share data only with the service providers that run the app: hosting, database and sign in, content delivery, the AI model providers, and analytics and error reports. The privacy policy lists each kind.

Can someone make pictures of me?

Not from your photo. Nodera has no photo uploads at all, so nobody can bring your face into the app. Every picture is drawn by an AI image model from a written description.

Characters and pictures of real people are not allowed without their consent. Public characters are reviewed before anyone else can see them, and the team rejects or takes down a character or a picture that shows a real person. You can report a character from its chat menu, and a message or a picture in a room.

Pictures you make in a chat are private to you. Characters marked 18+ never show their images on public search pages, and their preview is blurred when someone shares a link to them.

Does a character respect a no?

Yes, and it is part of every reply. When you tell a character a limit, such as no pet names or a line you do not want crossed, it is saved as a boundary and sent with every later reply, with the instruction to respect it.

• Characters marked 18+ are told to respect consent and your stated boundaries, and that everyone in a romantic or sexual scene is an adult.
• Every character is told never to write your actions, thoughts or feelings for you. Characters not marked 18+ keep intimacy non explicit and set their own limits in their own voice.
• Pictures of sexual violence or sex without consent are blocked, and stories never include anything sexual without clear consent.

Two platform rules are added by our server to every reply, after the character's own instructions, so no character and no edited app can remove them. One: no sexual content with minors, childlike people or unclear ages. Two, the crisis rule: if you say sincerely, as yourself, that you plan to end your life or hurt yourself, the character steps out of the story and points you to 988 in the US or your local emergency number.

AI models can still slip. If a reply crosses a line, regenerate it for free, rewind the chat to an earlier message, or report the character.

Can I delete everything, and how?

Yes, from inside the app, with no email to send. Pick the level you want.

   Delete one chat

   In your chat list, or in a character's past chats, choose Delete chat. Its messages and the memories it made are removed.

   Wipe your chat history from the cloud

   Settings, Privacy & Sync, Delete my cloud chat history. Every conversation and message on our servers is removed. Copies on your other devices follow when they sync.

   Clear one device

   Settings, Data & Storage, Clear local chat data. This removes the conversations, memories and relationship progress stored on that device.

   Delete your account

   Settings, Account, Delete account. Your profile, personas, private chats, memories and private pictures and clips are deleted, and the app data on that device is cleared. Unused credits are lost.

Characters you made are not deleted with your account: they stay private, without your creator profile, and people who already chat with them can carry on. Delete them in their studio first if you want them gone. Deletion finishes in the background within a reasonable period, and limited billing records and backup copies follow the retention rules in the privacy policy.

What do AI providers process?

To write a reply, the message you send and the context the character needs go to the AI model provider that writes it: recent messages, the memories that matter in this moment, the character's own definition and the persona you chose. The provider processes it to return the reply and is bound by its own terms and security obligations.

Pictures, clips and voices work the same way with image, video and voice model providers. They receive the text prompts the app writes, never an uploaded photo. A provider also turns memories into numbers a character can search, so it finds the right one later, and some safety checks read recent turns with a small AI model.

Because your messages leave your device, keep sensitive details such as passwords, card numbers or medical records out of your chats.

Is Nodera only for adults?

Yes. Nodera is for adults 18 and over. Age is confirmed by your own declaration at the start, and if you say you are under 18 you cannot use Nodera.

We do not ask for ID or a face scan, so your declaration is the check. On top of it, mature content needs two things: a character marked 18+, and the 18+ content setting, which comes on when you confirm your age and which you can turn off in Settings at any time. A visitor chatting without an account only gets safe for work chat.

Every character on Nodera is a fictional adult. A minors check reads each chat turn before any credits are spent and refuses sexual turns that involve a minor or a childlike character, and 18+ characters whose description reads as a minor are flagged for review when they are saved. What does Nodera not promise?

No app can honestly promise these, so we say so plainly.

• Perfect filters. AI models can slip, and our checks can miss something or block something harmless. Report what you see.
• A verified age. Age is your own declaration. We do not check ID.
• End to end encryption. Chats are encrypted in transit and stored on our servers so they can sync. They are not end to end encrypted.
• Instant deletion everywhere. Deletion runs in the background, copies on your other devices go when they sync, and a file someone already saved cannot be recalled.
• A finished product. Nodera is a beta. Features can change, break or be removed.
• Advice or crisis care. Characters are fictional and their replies are written by AI. They can be wrong, and they are no substitute for a doctor, a lawyer or a crisis line. In the US, call or text 988.
