What does Chub AI do better than most apps?

Two things: character cards and your choice of model. If those are why you use Chub, Nodera does not replace them, and this page will not pretend it does.

A card hub. Chub's library lists characters, lorebooks, presets and stages, and every character page shows a Download button and a download count. Cards, often called Tavern cards, are the shared format many roleplay apps read, so a card from Chub travels.
Any model you like. Chub's docs list keys from the major model providers and a model router, Chub's own Mars plan, or a model you run on your own computer, which costs nothing beyond your hardware.
Chats that travel too. Chat settings export a chat as JSONL, PNG or plain text, and character pages offer Import Chat.
Lorebooks and stages, its tools for world details and custom chat logic.

What does Chub AI cost in November 2026?

One subscription, or whatever your own key costs. On November 5, 2026 Chub's subscription page showed a single plan.

Mars, $20 a month. Unlimited use of all its models for one person, including Soji with a 60K context, plus voice, picture generation and early access to new models.
Crypto only. Chub accepts only cryptocurrency, which it says keeps it free of pressure from card companies and payment processors.
A small free trial. New users get one time trial credits "amounting to a few dozen messages". After that you subscribe or connect a key.
Your own key is billed by that provider, usually per token. Chub advises official keys over free reverse proxies, whose owners "could shut down access at any time".

Unlimited on Mars means one person at a time: Chub returns an error for parallel requests from one account and restricts obvious key sharing.

Why do people look for a Chub AI alternative?

Usually to stop assembling things. Chub hands you parts: a card, a model, a key, a preset. Some people would rather open an app where those choices are already made.

Keys and bills. Your own key means a provider account, a per token bill and settings to tune.
Payment. The only subscription is paid in crypto.
Memory depends on your setup. How much a character remembers comes from the context of the model you pick and the lorebooks you write.
No store app. Chub runs in the browser. We found no Chub app in the US App Store on November 5, 2026.

How do Chub AI and Nodera compare?

What does Nodera give you in place of your own key?

Everything runs on Nodera's models and comes out of 500 free credits a day. The setup disappears, and so does the choice.

Memory built in. Up to the last 16 messages kept word for word, and the moments that matter saved as memories the character recalls in that chat, from one day to the next and on any device. No lorebook to write.
Pictures and clips. Any chat moment as a picture in one of 73 art styles for 5 credits, animated into a 5 second clip for 25.
Chat voice and audio stories. Tap a reply to hear it in one of 22 voices, or get a 10 minute story written for you and read aloud for 500 credits.
Rooms. Two characters in one chat who talk to you and to each other.
800+ ready characters and a guided creator.

The price of that convenience: you cannot pick or tune the model, a free day is about 100 messages, and a Nodera character will not leave as a card for another app.

Can I bring a card from Chub to Nodera?

Not as a file yet. Nodera cannot read character cards today, and a "bring your character" importer is being built. You can still recreate a character in a few minutes.

Copy the card's text
Open a character you made on Chub and copy its description, personality, scenario, first message and example dialogs. For someone else's card, check that its creator allows reuse.
Use your own AI
In Nodera at app.nodera.ai, tap Create, choose Use your own AI and paste the text into the description box. It is free and uses no credits.
Paste back and finish
Copy the prompt into the AI chat you already use, paste its JSON reply back into Nodera, then adjust the character in the studio.

Every screen is in how to build a character with ChatGPT. Lorebooks and presets do not carry over. Characters must be clearly adult: Nodera does not allow characters who are or look like minors, or characters of real people without their consent.

Should you stay with Chub AI?

If you value control over convenience, probably yes.

You collect, share and download character cards.
You want to export chats and take them to other tools.
You build with lorebooks, presets and stages.

Try Nodera if

You want to chat without keys, proxies or crypto.
You want lasting memory built in.
You want pictures, animation and voice from free credits.
You want a guided creator, or your own AI to write the character for you.

Nodera's honest limits for a Chub user: your chats cannot leave Nodera yet, with no JSONL or text export, and characters you make download only in Nodera's own JSON format, not as cards. It is a beta, so replies can be slow at busy times, and it is web only, with no voice calls. Age is confirmed at a gate where you state you are 18 or older.

Questions people ask

Can I use my own API key on Nodera?

No. Every chat runs on Nodera's own models and is paid from the free daily credits. If running your own model or key matters most, Chub is the better fit.

Can Nodera import Chub character cards?

Not today. A "bring your character" importer is being built. Until then you can recreate a character you made in a few minutes by pasting its text into the creator's Use your own AI path.

Is Chub AI free?

Partly. New users get one time trial credits worth a few dozen messages, and after that you need the $20 Mars plan or your own key, which the provider bills you for. Running a model on your own computer costs nothing beyond the hardware.

Do I pay for Nodera with crypto or a card?

Neither, because there is nothing to buy right now. Nodera is free during its beta, with 500 credits a day and no paid plan.

Can I export characters or chats from Nodera?

Characters you made download as a JSON file from their studio, in Nodera's own format, not as a character card. Nodera cannot export chats yet.

Does Nodera allow adult roleplay?

Yes, for adults. Once you confirm you are 18 or older, romance and mature roleplay with adult characters marked 18+ are allowed, within our safety rules. The 18+ content setting comes on when you confirm, and you can turn it off in Settings. Never allowed, for anyone: sexual content involving minors or characters who look or act like minors, sexual violence or sex without consent, characters or pictures of real people without their consent, sexual content with animals, and anything that encourages self harm.
