What does Replika do well?
Replika has been around since 2017, and it is built around one companion who gets to know you over months and years. If that is what you want, it does it with care.
- Calls. You can call your Replika and talk out loud, and paid plans keep a call running in the background while you use other apps.
- AR and VR. An AR mode brings your Replika into the room around you through your phone, and a VR app for Meta Quest headsets is in beta.
- Memory you can see. A Memory tab shows what your Replika has learned about you, and you can add or remove memories yourself.
- One devoted companion. Each account has exactly one Replika, with its own name, look, level and relationship status.
- A wellbeing focus. It checks in, suggests small steps toward your goals and can draw on apps you already use.
Those strengths are real, and Nodera does not match all of them. Nodera has no voice calls, no AR and no app in the App Store or Google Play.
Why do people look for a Replika alternative?
Usually for one of three reasons: they want more than one character, they want romance without a subscription, or they want roleplay with characters from stories and games.
- One Replika per account. Replika's help center says you cannot create or manage more than one Replika under the same account. A second companion means a second account with a different email.
- Romance sits behind Pro. On the free plan your Replika is a friend. Romantic partner and the other relationship statuses unlock with a Pro subscription.
- Four months of scrollback. Replika says chat history is only shown for the past four months. What your Replika learned stays, but older messages cannot be displayed.
None of this makes Replika a worse app. It is a different shape: one companion, deepened over time, with the extras on a subscription.
How do Replika and Nodera compare?
Replika goes deeper on one companion and on voice. Nodera is wider, free during its beta and made for adults who want roleplay.

Can you have more than one companion on Nodera?
Yes, and that is the main difference. Nodera has 800+ characters from games, anime and the community, and you can make your own with a guided creator in a few minutes.
- Each chat keeps its own memories and its own relationship level, from 0 to 10, which unlocks pictures as you grow closer.
- Rooms put two characters in one chat. They answer you and each other, and you can invite a friend.
- Live puts a character in an animated scene that changes through the day.
- Stories are 10 minute audio stories written for you and read aloud in a voice you pick.
Does Nodera allow romance and mature roleplay?
Yes, for adults. Nodera is for people 18 and over only. Romance and mature roleplay with adult characters marked 18+ are allowed once you confirm you are 18 or older, and they use the same free credits as everything else. There is no romance tier.
Never allowed, for anyone: sexual content involving minors or characters who look or act like minors, sexual violence or sex without consent, characters or pictures of real people without their consent, sexual content with animals, and anything that encourages self harm. Will a Nodera character remember you the way your Replika does?
For the things that matter, yes, though it works differently. Characters remember your name, what you told them and the moments that mattered, from one day to the next, on every device. Up to the last 16 messages go word for word with every reply, and older moments are saved as memories they recall when they matter. Each chat keeps its own memory, so a new chat with the same character starts fresh.
Replika lets you read and edit its Memory tab. Nodera has no memory screen yet, but you can delete a chat (its messages and memories go with it), wipe your chat history from the cloud, or delete your whole account at any time. How do you start on Nodera if you are leaving Replika?
You start fresh: your Replika's chats and memories stay with Replika. A bring your character importer is being built. Until then, recreating a companion takes a few minutes.
Write down who they are
Their name, how they talk, what you call each other and the moments you want them to know. Replika's Memory tab is a good place to copy from.
Make the character
Open the creator on Nodera, describe them in your own words and pick a look in one of 73 art styles.
Tell them the story so far
Share the important things in your first chats. They are saved as memories and follow you to every device.
Should you pick Replika or Nodera?
Pick Replika if
- You want to call your companion and talk out loud, or meet them in AR or VR.
- You want one companion, deepened over years, with a memory you can edit.
- You want a native app from the App Store or Google Play.
- You want check ins and nudges toward your own goals more than roleplay.
Pick Nodera if
- You want more than one character, or two of them in one room.
- You want romance and mature roleplay as an adult without paying for a tier.
- You want to start free with 500 credits a day and no card.
- You want stories read aloud, live scenes and pictures from your chats.
Nodera's limits for a Replika user: no Memory tab to read or edit, no calls, no AR and no App Store or Google Play app. It is a beta, so things change, and the free credits cover about 100 messages a day, not endless chat. If calls are what you need and Replika is not the right fit, Kindroid and Nomi both offer them on paid plans.

Is Nodera free like Replika?
Both are free to start. Replika's free plan covers text chat with your Replika as a friend, while calls and romance need a subscription. Nodera is free during its beta: 500 credits every day, about 100 messages, with pictures, rooms and stories paid from the same credits and no card.
Can I move my Replika to Nodera?
Not automatically. Nodera cannot import Replika chats or memories. You can recreate your companion in a few minutes by describing their name, personality and your history in the creator, and a bring your character importer is being built.
Does Nodera have voice calls?
No. You can tap any reply to hear it read aloud in one of 22 voices, and listen to 10 minute audio stories, but there are no live calls. If calls matter most to you, Replika is the better fit.
Can I have several companions on Nodera?
Yes. You can chat with as many of the 800+ characters as you like, make your own, and bring two of them into a room together. Each one remembers you separately.
Is there a Nodera app?
Nodera is a web app at app.nodera.ai. It works in your phone's browser with nothing to download, and you can add it to your home screen. There is no App Store or Google Play app.
Is Nodera affiliated with Replika?
No. Nodera is an independent app with no link to Replika or to Luka, Inc., the company behind it. Replika is named here only to compare the two.
