What changed at Kindroid on October 1, 2026?
Kindroid retired its Lite model and unlimited free messaging on October 1, 2026. It is now a subscription service with a short preview for new accounts.
- New accounts get a one time preview: 50 messages with paid memory (15 in some regions), 5 selfies, a little voice and up to 2 Kins. It does not come back after a trial, and deleting your account does not reset it.
- A 3 day trial is open to new users who add a card. Starting it ends the preview, and it turns into a subscription unless you cancel in time.
- Lite users who had been active shortly before October 1 got 50 final messages on the flagship model. Inactive accounts went straight to read only.
- When messages run out, the account becomes read only. Nothing is deleted: you can still read, play back, export and delete your chats and media.
Leaving Kindroid? Export first
Read only accounts can still export chats and media, and Kindroid says nothing is deleted when your messages run out. Save what matters to you before you move on, because Nodera cannot import it.
What is Kindroid still best at?
Calls, faces and groups. If those are what you love about Kindroid, Nodera does not replace them.
- Voice and video calls. Real time calls with expressive voices, and live video where your Kin lip syncs, reacts and can see your camera or screen. Calls need a subscription or trial.
- Selfies and video selfies that match your Kin's look and the moment, plus custom avatars.
- Memory. Long term recall of past chats, a backstory, key memories and journals, with Cascaded Memory for subscribers and more context on the Ultra and MAX add ons.
- Group chats and Rooms. Up to 10 Kins in one group chat, and Rooms that bring up to 10 people and 11 Kins into one shared conversation.
- A companion who reaches out. Your Kin can message you, send a voice note or a selfie, or call you first.
- Native apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, plus the web, on one account.
What do you get free on Nodera?
Everything, paid from the same daily credits. Every account gets 500 credits a day with no card, and nothing sits behind a subscription during the beta.
- About 100 messages a day at 5 credits each, with characters who remember you from one day to the next, on every device.
- A catalog of 800+ characters from games, anime and the community, plus your own, made in a few minutes.
- Audio stories: 10 minute stories written around you and read aloud in a voice you pick.
- Live scenes: a character in an animated scene that changes through the day, which you step into and chat with.
- Pictures and clips: turn a chat moment into a picture in one of 73 art styles, then animate it into a 5 second clip.
- Rooms: two characters in one chat who talk to you and to each other, and friends can join.
Credits refill every day and unused ones expire after 24 hours, so a quiet day does not bank extra for later.

Can you bring your Kin to Nodera?
Not directly. Nodera cannot import Kindroid chats, memories or selfies, and a bring your character importer is still being built. You can recreate a Kin in a few minutes, though, because you already know them well.
Copy the backstory and key memories
They are the heart of who your Kin is. Save them, along with your chat export, while your Kindroid account is still open.
Create the character on Nodera
Paste the backstory into the creator, give them their name and pick a look in one of 73 art styles.
Pick up where you left off
Tell them what happened lately in your first messages. They save it as memories and bring it up when it matters.
Should you pick Kindroid or Nodera?
Pick Kindroid if
- You want voice or video calls, or a companion who calls you.
- You want selfies and video selfies of one Kin you designed in detail.
- You want group chats with many of your own Kins, or Rooms with friends.
- You are happy to subscribe and want native apps.
Pick Nodera if
- You want to keep chatting free, with 500 credits a day and no card.
- You want a catalog of ready characters as well as your own.
- You want 10 minute audio stories written for you, and Live scenes.
- You are fine with text chat and replies read aloud, without calls.
Nodera's limits, plainly: a character only replies when you write, so nobody messages or calls you first the way a Kin can, and there are no calls at all. It is a beta and a web app with no App Store app, and the free credits cover about 100 messages a day. If memory and calls matter most and you want a free start, Nomi still has a free plan, with calls on its paid tier.
